Weatherford Laboratories provides a comprehensive suite of analytical and interpretative geologic services in support of exploration and production projects world-wide. These services include full in-house capabilities for petrographic analysis, geology, sedimentology, biostratigraphy, and fracture analysis. The Weatherford Laboratories team of technical specialists works closely with our clients to create rock-based analytical programs designed to reduce risk and minimize uncertainties in a cost-effective manner.
Petrographic Services can be performed on conventional core, rotary sidewall cores, percussion sidewall cores, drill cuttings, outcrop samples, and produced materials. These services include a comprehensive suite of core description, thin section, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and other related services. Our petrographers have extensive experience in characterizing clastic and carbonate conventional reservoirs. We also have expertise in the characterization of tight gas sands, shale reservoirs, unconsolidated sands, and heavy oil sands.
Petrology and Sedimentology studies range from single well to multi-well field studies, and integrate a variety of petrophysical data sets. These studies provide our customers with rock-based answers regarding controls on reservoir quality, deposition environment, diagenetic history, formation damage prevention and anomalous wireline log response.
