Chris Laughrey Receives AAPG Award

The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) has awarded the A.I. Levorsen Memorial Award to a team from the Weatherford Laboratories staff, FEI, Chevron, and the Pennsylvania Geological Survey. The team was led by Mr. Christopher D. Laughrey, who will be accepting the award. The award will be presented to Chris at this year's Eastern Section meeting which will be held September 25-27, 2011 in Washington, D.C. 'The A.I. Levorsen Memorial Award recognizes the best paper presented at each AAPG Section meeting, with particular emphasis on creative thinking toward new ideas in exploration' (AAPG).

The paper for which Christopher and his colleagues will be receiving the award is "Black-Shale Diagenesis: Preliminary Insights from Integrated High-Definition Analysis of Post-Mature Marcellus Formation Rocks, Northeastern Pennsylvania".

Mr. Laughrey co-authored this paper with Tim Ruble and Wayne Knowles with Weatherford Laboratories; Herman Lemmens and Alan R. Butcher with FEI Company; Greg Walker, with Weatherford Laboratories (now with Chevron); and Jaime Kostelnik with the Pennsylvania Geological Survey.
